据说峇峇娘惹家里一定会有一套大小不同的痰盂，大痰盂通常都是放在房间里，等到晚上要上大小号都会用大痰盂来解决。为什么这样呢 ？因为从前峇峇娘惹住家是间豪宅，如有2或3层楼的豪宅。同时主人的睡房都是在前方和高楼，只有家里的佣人是睡在豪宅的后方睡房。

当夜入深夜人有三急时，大痰盂就会排上用场。据我所知每一间房里都会有一个大痰盂，这方便深夜人有三急时用。这是因为主人不会愿意深夜下楼去解放，同时隔天早上佣人就会来到睡房里拿大痰盂去清洗。

所以大痰盂是用来上大小号，那小痰盂呢 ？其实小痰盂是放在桌上用来吐“槟榔种子”，有其实是娘惹在玩"Cherki"时边玩边吃“槟榔”。同时当亲戚朋友到家里来做客，娘惹们就会开始边聊天边吃“槟榔”。之后槟榔种子就会吐在小痰盂里，过后佣人会拿去清洗和收起。现在小痰盂是个蛮稀有物件，因为在峇峇家族不会常看到。So the big spittoon is used for the hurry, what about the small spittoon?
